About Tim Carey, MD
Tim Carey, a Seattle native, attended Roosevelt High School where he was the quarterback on the championship team. Although recruited to play college football, Tim chose to focus on medicine at the University of Washington.
His residency training was completed at the Greater Baltimore and Johns Hopkins Medical Centers, where he served as Chief Resident. He pursued fellowships in Eye and Brain Pathology and Oculofacial Surgery at Johns Hopkins and the University of Texas. Tim also served as the Director of Oculoplastics and Eye and Brain Pathology at the University of Texas before returning to Seattle.
Dr. Carey is frequently voted one of America’s Best Physicians and is a member of the prestigious American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) and an invited member of the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society (NANOS). ASOPRS membership requires certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology, completion of an approved 2 year ASOPRS fellowship, a thesis, and successful passage of both oral and written Boards administered by ASOPRS.
As the team ophthalmologist for the Seattle Seahawks and the University of Washington Athletic Department, Dr. Carey provides expert eye care to athletes focusing on eye and brain injuries. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, cycling, swimming, skiing, scuba diving, and playing golf. A passionate Husky fan, he attends many Husky sporting events year-round.

In the winter, Dr. Carey volunteers as part of the Ski Patrol at Alpental, serving as an Alpine Patroller and physician. All ski patrollers are certified by the National Ski Patrol and undergo rigorous training and continuous refreshers. Dr. Carey’s children often accompany the Patrol, learning valuable lessons about service and helping others.
