About Tim Carey, MD
Tim is an Alpine Patroller and National Ski Patrol ( NSP ) Instructor including advanced training in mountain rescue and avalanche search and recovery certified by the NSP. He has authored and edited in several volumes of The National Ski Patrol’s “Outdoor Emergency Care” the Bible of the ski patrol that comes out in a new volume ( text book ) every decade. This literature is updated every 10 years and the text book serves as the main reference for all the Patrols of North American including the USA, Canada, Europe and Japan.
Ski Patrol training and active participation encompasses hundreds of volunteer hours per year. Dr Carey has been recognized by the National Ski Patrol for his service both in teaching and on hill patient care action. Tim has also been a consultant for several Winter Olympic Games. Dr. Carey serves as the assistant to the medical director of Snoqualmie Pass and does most of his patrolling at Alpental.
